GridGroupThe former Renault team boss in Formula 1, Cyril Abiteboul, has just been appointed as the team principal of Hyundai Motorsport, which is competing in the world rally championship, or WRC 2023.

Hyundai Motorsport announced the appointment of Cyril Abiteboul on Wednesday (11/1/2023), and the Frenchman is taking charge of the WRC and Customer Racing programs.

With Cyril Abiteboul joining, Hyundai is looking to continue the impressive momentum it has achieved in recent months.

Last year, the Team Hyundai racer took four wins in the last six rounds out of a total of five wins in the 2022 WRC season.

Hyundai called it their highest number of wins in a single WRC season under the tenure of Deputy Team Director, Julien Moncet.

Julien Moncet will take on a new role in 2023 related to Hyundai's future technology.
